Abstract
Because of its physical and chemical properties and its biocompatibility, titanium with its alloys and intermetallic compounds is a highly sought-after material in aviation and space technology, as well as in chemical equipment manufacturing and medical engineering. Until now however, the high price of these materials has stood in the way of the growing demand for complex parts made of titanium and titanium compounds, as the production of titanium components is much more complex and expensive than that of conventional metals. In cooperation with Access e.V., an associate institute of RWTH Aachen, Linn High Therm has succeeded in developing a fine casting system for titanium and titanium alloys.
