VKKJ Wien – Verantwortung und Kompetenz für besondere Kinder und Jugendliche

Zusammenfassung

Seit 40 Jahren betreut Verantwortung und Kompetenz für besondere Kinder und Jugendliche (VKKJ) Wien in 4 Ambulatorien Kinder, Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene bis zum 30. Lebensjahr. Betreuung und medizinische Versorgung erfolgen durch ein multiprofessionelles Team bestehend aus Ärzten, Ergotherapeuten, Physiotherapeuten, Sozialarbeitern, Psychologen, Psychotherapeuten, Logopäden und Musiktherapeuten. Im Ambulatorium Liesing wird zusätzlich noch Sexualpädagogik angeboten. Die Einzeltherapie der Patienten wird durch verschiedene Gruppenangebote ergänzt, z. B. Kochgruppe, Heilpädagogisches Voltigieren, Wassertherapie, Klettergruppe für Mädchen und junge Frauen, Elterngruppe und einem Jugendclub als fortlaufende Gruppen sowie durch die Projekte „Spring in the City“, „Summer in the City“ und einer Reitwoche. In der Sozialarbeit steht die Beratung und Begleitung der Eltern und Angehörigen in rechtlichen Fragen im Vordergrund. Unterstützungsbedarf ist auch beim Finden der richtigen Werkstätte, des geeigneten Wohngemeinschaftsplatzes bzw. einer geeigneten Berufsausbildung gegeben. Die Jugendlichen werden dabei mithilfe eines Jobcoachings begleitet. Eine anderer sehr großer Aufgabenbereich der Sozialarbeit ist die Vernetzung mit Institutionen wie Schule und Wohngemeinschaft, dem Arbeitsmarktservice, der MA 40 (Sozialamt), der Pensionsverssicherungsanstalt, der MA 11 (Amt für Jugend und Familie) und mit Einrichtungen der Behindertenarbeit (Caritas, Jugend am Werk, GIN, …). Auch der Austausch mit Kollegen innerhalb der VKKJ sowie wienweite Vernetzungstreffen sind einen wichtiger Teil der Sozialarbeit. Allerdings gelten diese Angebote nur für junge Erwachsene bis zum 30. Lebensjahr, danach gibt es im Rahmen der VKKJ keine weiteren Behandlungsmöglichkeiten mehr.

Abstract

For 40 years, the organisation Responsibility and Competence for Special Needs Children and Adolescents (VKKJ) of Vienna has been looking after outpatient clinics for children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of 30 years. Support and medical care are provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, psychologists, psychotherapists, speech therapists, and music therapists. At the outpatient clinic in the Liesing district of Vienna sex education is also offered. Patients’ individual treatments are complemented by various group activities, e.g., cooking, therapeutic equestrian vaulting, water therapy, a climbing group for girls and young women, parent groups and a youth club are currently running, in addition to projects such as “Spring in the City”, “Summer in the City” and a riding week. Advice and support for the parents and relatives in legal matters are at the forefront of social work. There is also a need for support in finding the right workplace, a suitable place to live and appropriate job training. Young people are supported with the aid of job coaching. Another very large sphere of duty for social work is networking with other institutions such as schools and residential communities, the job centre, the social security office, the Austrian federal pension fund, the office for young people and families, and with institutions working with the disabled (the Austrian organisations Caritas, Youth at Work, Community Integration and Normalization etc.). Communication with colleagues within the VKKJ and networking meetings throughout Vienna are also important parts of social work. However, these offers only apply to young adults up to the age of 30; after that, there are no further opportunities for treatment within the VKKJ.
