Hands an a Hardbody: Anorexigenic Culture and Analytic Attitudes

Abstract

Traditionally, healthy living has been applied enthusiastically to a variety of health regimens now almost endemic in large parts of our population. In this paper, the author suggests that the trend toward health concerns is approaching the compulsive, in patients and in psychoanalysts, and suggests some reasons why obsessive concerns with well-being may be masking some old psychological malaises and a few new ones.
