Abstract
We analyze the sensitivity of a speckle interferometer to transverse or longitudinal displacements of a diffusely-scattering flat surface when a Galileo telescope is used at the stage of double-exposure speckle-gram recording. The interferometer sensitivity to transverse displacements is shown to depend on the magnitude and sign of the radius of curvature of the spherical wave front of coherent radiation illuminating the surface. The interferometer sensitivity to longitudinal displacements depends on the scale of the Fourier transform of the function that characterizes the complex amplitude of the reflection or transmission of the scatterer. The experimental results correspond to theoretical prerequisites.
