Sensitivity of the r-Process Model to the Choice of a Mass Model

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics Aims and scope

Abstract

Theoretical cross sections and rates of neutron capture on nuclei participating in the astrophysical r-process are calculated using different models of nuclear masses. An analysis is performed of calculating the cross sections and rates of neutron capture on neutron-rich indium isotopes, depending on the choice of the mass model. Four variants of the astrophysical reaction’s database are created, based on calculations of the rates of neutron capture using different mass models. These databases are used to model the r-process in the canonical approximation, and to determine the sensitivity of the r-process model to the choice of the mass model.
