Bolt Tightening with Equal Risk of Uncoupling and Fatigue Failure

Abstract

An approach to determining the optimal tightening of screws is proposed for joints under variable load. In this approach, the optimal tightening force corresponds to equal risk of uncoupling and fatigue failure.
