Asthma is a complex disease process involving obstruction of the airway passages, which on occasion can lead to death. It is the most common chronic disease of childhood. The National Asthma Education and Prevention Program’s Expert Panel Report-3 (“Expert Panel Report 3 (EPR-3): Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma-Summary Report 2007,” 2007) more directly defines asthma as.
