Abstract
This chapter explores the concept of “transformation”, based on Contact Theory, and in regard to reconciling opposing views on gender identity and religious liberty. It also asks what conditions would facilitate an effective dialogue about these issues. The chapter draws on the findings of a qualitative study exploring trans advocacy and activism directed at conservative Christian communities, illustrating the heterogeneity of these settings.
