Abstract

Biomarker testing has proved a very fertile field for innovation, the development and application of multiple alternative methods for identifying and assessing biomarker expression, in certain cases overlaid with detection and evaluation of any associated immune response. Different methods have differing advantages and disadvantages, including perceived accuracy, performance issues, cost and logistics. Many of these issues have been discussed in preceding chapters, and the choice of test method may simply be governed by what is possible, and affordable. Data relating comparing the pros and cons of the various methods have been well reviewed in a meta-analysis by Lu et al. (2019).
