Abstract
The unexpected pandemic in 2020 cut short the regular school activities of the academic year and threw the whole world into chaos. When universities had to assume the Emergency Remote Teaching as remedy, were teachers and students able to cope with the new challenges? It turned out that the Chinese language teaching and learning in this unprecedented situation has proved to be carried out successfully at our institution and the student progress met the curriculum requirements. This chapter discusses the pros and cons of Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) and analyzes how by taking advantage of the virtual Vula platform the blended teaching and learning has achieved unexpectedly in 2020. The chapter also tries to outline what implications we have drawn for future teaching and learning practices.
