Mechanical Ventilation in Critically Ill Cancer Patients

Abstract

There are approximately 300 names of modes of mechanical ventilation in the world. However, in reality there are not that many modes, these are just names that the manufacturers came up to make their product seem unique. This chapter will help the practitioner recognize what a mode of mechanical ventilation is, what it does, and what to expect from the patient–ventilator interaction.
