Riassunto
L’alopecia areata (AA) è un’alopecia non cicatriziale che esordisce acutamente con la comparsa di chiazze alopeciche di forma rotondeggiante, asintomatiche, a livello delle quali il cuoio capelluto appare indenne da qualsiasi reazione infiammatoria. Nei casi gravi l’AA può coinvolgere tutto il cuoio capelluto (alopecia totale) o tutti i peli del corpo (alopecia universale).
