Abstract
The contradictory nature of the relationship between Fascist Italy and the League of Nations has not been fully examined by the existing historiography of the Italian membership of the League, which focuses disproportionally on the problems Italy caused for the organization. This book proposes a new reading of the dynamics that developed between Fascist Italy and the League. Through the study of the Italians working in this institution and multi-archival research, the book seeks to refine our understanding of the relationship between nationalism and internationalism at the League and to shed new light upon the role played by Fascist Italy in interwar international cooperation, as well as upon the multifaceted nature of the League and its historical significance.
