Abstract
In November 2009 I was approached by the conference organising committee for the Digital Humanities Conference 2010, to be held in July at King’s College London. In a deviation from previous conferences, the committee had decided that, for the first time, instead of getting someone external to the community to talk about semi-related research areas, they would ask an early career scholar from well within the discipline to present the closing plenary. Would I consider giving the speech?
