Abstract
Seeds provide an efficient means in disseminating plant virus diseases. Transmission of viruses through seeds plays an important role in the long distance spread of viruses. Unlike vectors, infected seeds can be carried away to distant places where they act as primary source of inoculum for spread of a virus. A few of the seed-borne viruses may be carried as surface contaminants while others are carried through embryo considered as true seed-borne viruses.
