Abstract
On a series of test specimens made with five kinds of rock and six kinds of cements hydrated between 1 and 8 weeks, the structure of the existing interfacial zone, the cleavage strength and the mechanism of failure were studied. The structure of the interfacial zone of different rock-cement combinations was similar but not identical. Significant differences between different rock–cement combinations existed with respect to the measured cleavage strength and mechanism of failure.
