This translation presents the text of a lecture O. Pöggeler held beforeGoerregesellschaft in 1961 and subsequently published inDas Philosophische Jahrbuch der Goerregesellschaft vol. 70/1, 1962, pp. 118–138. In the original the title of the essay is “Metaphysik und Seinstopik bei Heidegger.” Throughout the original, Pöggeler mentions his sources parenthetically or does not mention them at all; we have followed the same practice.
