Oxidation of saturated hydrocarbons by chromic acid in the presence of Ir(IV) chloride complexes

Reaction Kinetics and Catalysis Letters Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Ir(IV) chloride complexes in aqueous solutions are found to catalyze the oxidation of alkanes by chromic acid. The reaction is first order with respect to the hydrocarbon concentration. The rate of C−H bond oxidation increases in the series primary C−H<secondary C−H<tertiary C−H.

Abstract
