Abstract
In his review, the author expresses serious concerns about the VISEP study conducted by the German Competence Network Sepsis (SepNet). Unfortunately, the author's concerns are based on false assumptions about the design, conduct and results of this trial. Moreover, the author mainly does not refer to the original data of the publication, which is not referenced in his manuscript nor does he take into account the available literature. In order to give the reader access to the methods and results of the VISEP study, the original data are provided together with a point-for-point comment and correction section.
