The 35th workshop of the «Société Francophone de Biologie Théorique» took place in Poitiers (Medical School, University Hospital and SP2MI, Futuroscope) from June 22 to 25, 2015. The themes of the workshop were: Mathematics, Ecology and Health.

This issue of Acta Biotheoretica consists of invited and carefully refereed contributions from the speakers. We would like to thank the Editor in Chief, D. J. Kornet, for giving us the opportunity to publish this special issue, and the journal assistant, A. Gokuldas, for her help during the preparation of the issue. Thanks are also due to the authors and referees, allowing us to present a high level volume.

We especially acknowledge the support of the French CNRS. We also thank the SFBT, the Laboratoire de Mathématiques et Applications, the University of Poitiers, the University Hospital (CHU) of Poitiers, the Medical School of the University of Poitiers, the Fédération Mires, the Communauté d’Agglomération Grand Poitiers and the Région Poitou-Charentes for their support.

We dedicate this special issue to the memory of our two colleagues and friends Robert Costalat and Philippe Tracqui. Both of them marked deeply our field with their scientific contributions and played an essential role in the organisation of the Société Francophone de Biologie Théorique.
