Abstract
An external constant magnetic field modifies the properties of magnetic fluids. This paper presents the results of an acoustic and magnetic study of a commercial ferrofluid APG 513A (FerroTec Corp.) which shows an increase in the fluid viscosity under the effect of external magnetic field. The experimental study of the effect of the viscosity induced by external magnetic field on the absorption of ultrasonic wave has been performed for a commercial ferrofluid APG 513A. The magnetic susceptibility has been also determined. The measurements enabled us to estimate the mean magnetic moment and mean size of magnetic particles.
