Abstract

The production of a multiphase ceramic in the system CaO-P2O5 from mixtures of powders of hydroxy-apatite and monetite, synthesized from calcium nitrate and ammonium hydrophosphate, is investigated. Monetite CaHPO4 is used as the source of the resorbable phase of the composite ceramic — calcium pyrophosphate. It is established that a solid-phase reaction in which hydroxyapatite and calcium pyrophosphate interact to form tricalcium phosphate occurs during calcination.
