Zusammenfassung
Wissenschaftliche und klinische Daten weisen Zirkoniumdioxid(ZrO2)-Implantate neuester Generation als biokompatible Behandlungsalternative zu Titanimplantaten aus. Allerdings ist der Umgang mit ZrO2-Implantaten für viele Implantologen im klinischen Alltag neu und das Kommunikationsdefizit bezüglich Zuverlässigkeit, Prognose und Auswahl der Implantatsysteme und deren Handling groß. Im Folgenden wird anhand eines Anwendungsbeispiels und neuester wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse aufgezeigt, dass implantologisch tätige Zahnärzte oder Kieferchirurgen ZrO2-Implantaten Vertrauen schenken können. Sie sollten in der Lage sein, einteilige Keramikimplantate setzen zu können und damit das eigene Behandlungsspektrum zu erweitern. Das Verständnis für materialspezifische Unterschiede der beiden Materialien ZrO2 und Titan ist für zukünftige klinische Applikationen wichtig. Die klinische Anwendung von zweiteiligen Keramikimplantaten ist neu und muss sich noch anhand von klinischen Langzeitdaten bewähren.
