Abstract
Heat release experiments are reported on quench-condensed thin films of solid H 2 and HD, measured during the initial annealing. The measurements shed some light on the structural properties of quench-condensed films and particularly allow to estimate the initial grain size. For H 2 additional information about the ordering transition of ortho-molecules could be extracted from the data.
