Hepatic sinusoidal cells such as sinusoidal endothelial cells, Kupffer cells, hepatic stellate cells, and pit cells play an important role in hemodynamic and metabolic function and are involved in various liver diseases. The frequent involvement of sinusoidal cells in pathologic conditions is explained by the diverse actions of those cells, an understanding of which is essential to clinicians.
