Making extensive use of new archival research the volume identifies the major concerns of Liberals in the first two decades of the twentieth century and explores how policy-making was related to conflicting definitions of Liberal ideology.

About the author

IAN PACKER is Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Media and Humanities at the University of Lincoln, UK. He is the author of a number of works on early twentieth-century British political history, including Lloyd George, Liberalism and the Land (2001).
