Abstract

An approach to provide interoperability between an object-oriented distributed system (Guide) and an object-oriented database system (O2) is presented. Our major goal is to enrich Guide with database functionalities, like efficient and secure processing of high amount of data. Our approach is based on an export/import mechanism that allows a Guide application to ask for remote processing of data stored in the O2 system. A client-server architecture has been implemented for the interconnection and a first prototype allows to validate our approach and to make some performance evaluation.
