The Drug Regimen: ‘We Can Treat It’

Abstract

The problems of deciding what to tell patients about the implications of P.D. which were explored in Chapter 2 were compounded by the further difficulties of deciding what to explain and how to supervise the drug treatment. We have seen in Chapter 1 that, technically, management of the drug regimen is complex, requiring fine tuning over time to achieve the best balance between minimizing the side-effects and maximizing control of the illness. Clinically this demands careful individual assessment.
