Abstract
It has always struck me as curious that no sooner does one begin to talk about Shakespeare than one finds oneself talking politics. Despite the fact that Shakespeare is universally admired, in some quarters even revered, there is no question that Shakespeare is a political issue and, like all political issues, instigates a wide variety of opinions.
