Abstract
A wave of change swept through abortion politics in the 1960s and early 1970s. In the United States, Canada, Australia and Western Europe, restrictive regulations on abortion were liberalized to a greater or lesser degree (Dahlerup 1986; Glendon 1987). Response to these changes over the past 25 years varies considerably. Both In both Germany and the United States, there has been considerable public debate about abortion policy.
