Abstract

In this chapter, we will discuss Linux administration. In Chapter 11, we introduced topics essential to configuring Linux in preparation for installing the Oracle RAC software. In this chapter, we introduce additional useful concepts and commands for ongoing operating system administration that will assist in the day-to-day management of the cluster. The topics covered in this chapter include run levels, services, terminal sessions, manual pages, the bash shell, packages, kernel parameters, swap space, file systems, the process information pseudofile system, booting the system, log files, tracing, and debugging.
