Abstract
Vulva and vagina are commonly involved by infectious and inflammatory diseases. Most infectious diseases involving the vulva and vagina are sexually transmitted. Human papilloma virus infection remains an important risk factor for both the premalignant and malignant squamous epithelial neoplasms. Other important epithelial malignancies are Paget’s disease (PD) and Bartholin’s gland carcinoma of the vulva and clear cell carcinoma of the vagina. Some benign conditions such as lichen sclerosis and atypical adenosis should be recognized promptly as they may represent precursor lesions of some epithelial malignancies.
