Abstract
This chapter is not so much about the actual impacts but concentrates on how potential impactors are so defined and what might be done to deflect or destroy them. Since amateur astronomers have an important role to play here, it seems necessary to describe the state of play and make the point that the rules of this particular game are far from complete.
