Surgical Mentoring

Abstract

Mentoring is the provision of personal and professional guidance usually to a younger individual. A mentor is an experienced advisor and trusted friend who is committed to the personal and professional successes of the mentee. Changing demographics in surgery mandate the need for multiple mentors for each mentee. Future changes in mentoring will incorporate ongoing advances in information technology.
