The Role of Gaba in Shaping Frequency Response Properties in the Chinchilla Inferior Colliculus

  • Chapter
Acoustical Signal Processing in the Central Auditory System

Abstract

In this chapter, we summarize data from several recent single unit iontophoretic studies on the role of GABAA receptor-mediated inhibition in the central nucleus of the inferior colliculus (CIC). Specifically, we will address the role of GABA circuits in shaping acoustically evoked monaural responses in the frequency domain.
