Abstract

The following will have relevance primarily to the first two evisceration methods described previously since Rokitansky’s method involves almost entirely in situ dissection and Virchow’s method individualises organs during evisceration. It has been mentioned that occasionally the last-named technique will have to be modified in some way to allow groups of organs to be removed in continuity and in these circumstances the dissection of these organ blocks will be identical to that described below for the en bloc evisceration method. The methods described here occasionally have to be adjusted in order that important features are not missed and so that they can be demonstrated to an audience. Many less frequently used special and alternative techniques will be described in the relevant organ dissection chapters.
