Abstract

Tension headache is perhaps not the best choice of terms for this type of headache because it implies that tension in people’s lives is the cause of the headache. Although stress and tension in one’s life tend to increase headache, they are not usually the cause of the headaches, but simply an exacerbating factor. When the headaches occur daily (or at least 15 days per month), a better term is chronic daily headache (CDH). See Table 6.0 for definition of CDH.
