Abstract

There is unchallenged evidence that during the last quarter of the century progress has been made in developing cancer chemotherapy that is effective against a wide variety of tumors. In particular, specific neoplasms can now be cured by the administration of adequate polydrug regimens. To improve clinical results in various tumors still further, many new strategies have been proposed and applied during the past ten years. They consist mainly of adjuvant chemotherapy regimens for patients at high risk of recurrence, following standard local-regional treatment as well as the delivery of noncross-resistant regimens to overcome the problem of primary cell resistance.
