Abstract
The plasma apolipoproteins are distributed on several sets of discrete particles whose structures are constantly changing because of their interactions with each other, with enzymes in plasma and with cells* Subtle alterations in the conformation of fonctionnally important domains of apolipoproteins on the surface of particles occur which can be detected by sensitive immunological technics. Monoclonal antibodies, because of their high degree of specificity and of the unlimited quantities which may be produced, can be used as probes of the antigenic structure and of the protein conformation of lipoproteins.
