Abstract
As a non-expert in computers and their uses, my aims in this paper are not to explore any subject in detail, but rather to survey the subject of large ground-based telescopes along with some of their present and future demands on computing and data-analysis facilities, and to try to stimulate discussion from experts as to how these needs can be met.
