Abstract

In recent years, several long range transport (LRT) models have been developed (see Eliassen, 1980, for a review). The work discussed in this paper results from a request of the French “Ministère de l’Environnement” who wanted to have at his disposal an interpretation tool in case of pollution episodes due to LRT, The complexity of the model is a compromise between the necessary realism in simulating the most important physico-chemical processes involved, and a relative simplicity which might allow a routine use. It is to be noted that the work described here reflects more the development of a methodology than that of an operational model.
