Abstract
When Stan M. Barauskas was given the assignment of developing an auxiliary power unit (APU) system for the Shuttle, his initial thought was, ‘“Oh, auxiliary power unit doesn’t sound very important to me.’ Auxiliary means you may need it, you may not, it’s an occasional use type device.”
