Abstract
The ultrasound evaluation of the hip is separated into the anterior and lateral hip for the purpose of our discussion. The structures that are easily evaluated in the anterior aspect of the hip include the femoroacetabular joint, anterior superior labrum, and the iliopsoas tendon and bursa. The structures in the lateral aspect of the hip include the greater trochanteric bursa, gluteus medius tendon and bursa, and insertion of the piriformis tendon. This chapter will also review common problems encountered when scanning the hip.
