Abstract

Linear functions are the simplest functions in linear spaces. Their study is of fundamental importance and forms the subject known as linear algebra. In this chapter we assume the reader has mastered the essentials of linear algebra. We therefore spend some time on the class of functions and sets that are just one step more complicated than the linear ones, namely convex functions and convex sets.
