In Search of the Meaning of Education

  • Chapter
Preparation for Aging

Abstract

In the research project “In Search of the Meaning of Education”, we are studying the meaning of education and learning in the lives of Finns (Antikainen, 1991). In addition to formal education, we are interested in adult education and other informal and nonformal ways of acquiring knowledge and skills. Our conception of meaning refers to our method and theory both.
