Abstract

An arithmetic progression is a sequence of integers of the form nk + a, k =…,− 2,− 1, 0, 1, 2, …. We write the set of all integers in such a progression as {nk + a}k∈ℤ. Example: the progression …,−7, − 2, 3, 8, 13, 18, … forms the set {5k + 3}k∈ℤ.
