Mechanism of Particle Mixing and Segregation in Gas Fluidized Beds

  • Chapter
Fluidization

Abstract

A model is derived to describe particle segregation for binary mixtures of different sized particles in a gas fluidized bed. Introducing an important aspect named segregation factor, the model, which is formulated based on the bubbling bed model, yields solutions showing the change of concentration profiles of jetsam with time. It is shown that the prediction of segregation patterns can well agree with experimental results obtained.
