Abstract
Although the study of solid-state reactions has received considerable attention recently, because of their complexity no general explanation has yet been obtained. The simplest reactions involve only a single phase, such as sintering and phase transformation. Germanium oxide is an example of the latter (1). In this research these basic ideas have been extended to two phases in the study of the kinetics of formation of a solid solution. The NaCl-KCl and CaO-SrO systems have been studied by high temperature Xray diffraction.
