Abstract
Usual crystalline beryllium has hcp structure and is superconducting only below 0.026°K.1 The carrier concentration is very small compared to that of other metals. Hall effect measurements interpreted on a one-band model give2 0.06 holes per atom. Electronic specific heat’ data interpreted assuming parabolic bands confirm that the number of free carriers is small.
