Abstract
Since our first report (Astrup, 1969) at a symposium in Uppsala in February 1969 on changes of the oxygen affinity of hemoglobin due to pH-dependent 2,3-DPG changes we have studied this relationship more extensively in patients with acid-base disorders and also in normal individuals with induced changes of the acid-base status of the blood. The results of these investigations will be presented in this paper.
